THE BEECH STREET THEATRE COMPANY WILL BE HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR TWO PLAYS

PIGSVILLE and EASY COME, EASY GO

The Beech Street Theatre will be performing TWO ONE ACT PLAYS on Saturday October 3, 2020 in Minden, as a special fundraiser for the Halliburton Highland Health Services, Minden. ACTORS WILL HAVE ROLES IN BOTH PLAYS.  Some rehearsals during the summer months based on availability of cast. 3 rehearsals per week in September.   

 

Performances will depend on outcome of the Corona Virus Pandemic

The Story: PIGSVILLE 

Mayor Porker has been running the small town of Pigsville, Ontario for years with the help of a crooked sheriff and a shady minister. When a big city corporation decides to ‘invest’ in Pigsville, Mayor Porker sees the chance to make some big bucks, even if things are not quite ethical – or legal. A few of the town’s residents become suspicious and try to clean things up. There’s an ill wind blowing in Pigsville but will they be able to stop it? A hilarious look at small town politics. 

 

CHARACTERS 

 

Mayor Parker – Man or woman, Corrupt politician - age 30 plus. 

Sheriff Jessie – Man or Woman – Crooked Sheriff, in cahoots with Mayor Parker - age 30 plus 

Dee Dee Russell – Mayor Parker’s Secretary and the Town Hooker – Woman - age – mid 20’s 

Trina Greenwood – Woman Town do-gooder, environmentalist, a bit ditsy – age mid 20’s to mid 40’s 

Everett Greenwood – Trina’s husband, also a do-gooder, age – mid 20’s to mid 40’s 

Reverend Hal A. Looya/Andy Slokowski – Town minister in cahoots with Mayor Parker who moonlights as Andy, the  bartender. Man age 30 plus 

Sweepy Leduc (Mayor’s janitor), Moon Dawg Howard (Town Pimp), Fester N. Boyle ( Town Deputy) & Lance Granite (RCMP Special Investigation Officer) Man - Any age. 

 

The Story: EASY COME, EASY GO

 

Life gets complicated at Phil and Sandra’s rooming house when their three boarders discover a dead body – and millions of dollars – in the basement. Who is the body? How did it get there? Where did the money come from – and who will wind up with it? Easy Come, Easy Go takes you on a hilarious run-around as the lure of easy money tempts everyone. 

 

CHARACTERS 

GRACIE – Boarder in the rooming house. Gambler and likes her men.  Woman - Age 50 plus 

STERLING aka THE PROFESSOR – Boarder in the rooming house. Hippie type. Sells drugs. Man - Age 50 plus 

LORRAIN – Boarder in the rooming house. Recently divorced. Experimenting with a new girlfriend. Woman - Age 50 plus. 

CARRIE – Lorrain’s new love interest. Woman Any age. 

PHIL – Owner of the rooming house. Man Age 45 plus 

SANDRA – Phil’s wife Woman Age 45 plus  

BODY IN THE BASEMENT/LOTTERY GUY – Dead guy found in the basement & Lottery Corp. investigator. Man- Any age.
